Sandpiper Bay is Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year
Brunswick Isles Golf Trail Member, Sandpiper Bay, is the Myrtle Beach area 2010 Course of the Year. It was chosen by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association during their July meeting.

The Bald Head Island Club did something different by taking advantage of the poor economy to revitalize its 18 hole, 35 year old golf course. Golf Course Architect Tim Cate was hired to move the course closer to the original George Cobb design . . . have the course better mesh with the island’s natural environment, simplify routine maintenance, and make operational improvements.

It was one of those days where the driver was just working. We were playing River's Edge, so that's a very good thing. I was playing with my father-in-law's annual golf trip with his friends from Poughkeepsie, NY and was setting up on the 17th tee. This one is a challenger with an option to lay up short and take your time, or you can try to boom it over the marsh with the chance of making the par 5 reachable in two. Since my driver was working that day with a slight draw, it was the perfect opportunity to setup and pull a John Daly. As soon as I connected I knew I was money. The ball sailed over the marsh and landed just feet on the other side and rode down the hill to a wedge into the green. A WEDGE on a par 5!
